STATISTICS OF FIFTEEN CASES OF SUPERFICIAL GASTRIC CARCINOMA (THIRTEEN CASES OF EARLY CARCINOMA AND TWO CASES OF ADVANCED TYPE OF SUPERFICIAL SPREADING CARCINOMA) AT AN INSTITUTE IN KOREA

Abstract
|
|
|
This is a study on 13 cases (15 lesions) of early
gastric carcinoma which was defined as superficial car-
cinoma confined to the mucosa or/and submucosa- by
the Japanese Classification and 2 cases. (2 lesions) of
advanced type of superficial spreading gastric carcinoma
which mimics II c type of early carcinoma grossly which
were found and operated during the last 3 years and 9
months from Jan., 1968 to Sept., 1971, during which
period 2,035 cases were endoscopied with -gastrofiberscope
and 150 cases of gastric carcinoma´ were operated upon.
The results were summarized as follows.
1. Incidence of early gastric carcinoma among 2 035
cases endoscopied was 0.6 per cent, i.e. one early gastric
carcinoma among 156 cases endoscopied and the rate of
surgery of early carcinoma among all gastric cancers
operated was 8. per cent.
